Mayuri was strolling with her friends after lunch along the pathway within her office complex. It was a part of routine. But for 2-3 days, she had a strange feeling about a group of boys whom she would see almost every day at the same time, same place. From the corner of her eyes, she would try to puzzle out the consistent gaze of one of those boys at her. Not seen clearly though, perhaps he would keep smiling looking at them.

His wordless smile and piercing eyes would interrupt her talks. Maybe he was making fun of her acne-ridden face during that period of time, or maybe they were casually laughing amongst themselves. Whatever, Mayuri would feel conscious every time she would pass by the bunch. She hoped that her friends had not noticed his strange gaze. Talking so cheerfully to the girls though, she would stammer out of sudden distraction and avert her eyes from him, because she knew how ugly she would be looking.

One evening, when Mayuri was leaving for home, she saw the same group sitting on a pedestal right before her. As she continued to walk, they muttered something into that boy’s ears. She thought she heard something like, “bolde, aaj toh bol hi de”.

Oh yes, Mayuri was right, they were teasing the boy with her name, maybe because she doesn’t look good. They were just pulling his leg, making fun of her because that day, her face was more pathetic than ever.

As the boy looked up at her with his wide-open eyes and the same strange air around him, she avoided the eye contact as usual. And hiding under the blanket of inferiority, Mayuri scurried towards her cab, still not knowing what was the matter. But atleast she knew that those were not her glorious days at all.

Days passed, she stopped going for the walk because she was sick of humiliating herself and feeling conscious. Moreover, her skin would get better with the passing weather. So that, she would be able to confront a group of boys with confidence.

But one day, he appeared all of a sudden from the corridor of her office floor when she was strolling there with her friend after lunch. The moment when she unexpectedly found him so close to her workplace was enough to make her hair stand on end. Out of nervousness, she chose to keep moving. But he beckoned to her friend to talk. Perplexed, she went up to him with mingled unease and smile, and Mayuri started taking small steps ahead in the corridor with mingled anxiety and curiosity.
In a while, she came running up to her, saying,
.
.
.
.
“He said that he likes you and wants to be friends with you”. “Bullshit!” Mayuri was feeling dead nervous and shy. There is no denial to the fact that it is a feeling of pride for any girl to know that she is being be admired by someone, that she holds a special place in someone’s heart, even if it was a mere infatuation which is likely to end too before it could turn into love.

She had never seen him properly, just from the corner of her eye. He was just a stranger to her, who just fell into such infatuation without warning. So just like any other modest girl, Mayuri chose to don the armor of vanity keeping her humility at bay rather than to give assent to the proposition.

Time passed, and after a week, her same friend on a similar walk told her, “today was his last day at his office. He met me in the lift and just asked me your whereabouts. He also asked me to give his regards to you and tell that he would miss you and would never meet you again. But if you want to be in touch with him, he is there on facebook. His name is …”.

“Leave it”.

“Why would I miss him”, she thought. “I have no memories with him to recall. He was just a stranger to me, a ‘no one’. And why would I like to add him to my face book, when I am not the least bit interested to know about him, not even his name.”

But her diary of the same day told a different story:

Deep down in my heart, I wanted to say, “Thank you”. Because I met someone who made me feel special, made me feel loved and desired at the time when I was not admiring myself. Though I don’t know his name, but whenever I don’t feel happy with myself, I would recall his face, and tell myself that he is someone who sees me in a different perception, who thinks of me as a much better person than I think about myself. And who sees me in a more bright light, than I see myself.

Deep down in my heart, I wanted to stop him, ask his name, let him ask mine, and propitiate some casual talks. Maybe, after knowing each other, we soon would fall in attachment and then in love, and some day we would be telling our children about our story. Alas!

One thing I have learnt is that sometimes, people are just meant to touch our lives and go only to leave us with the realization that we may be more beautiful than what we think we see in the mirror, more righteous than what we think we deserve, and more capable than what we think we can do. It’s just a matter of …
'Perception'.”

Once Romeo said to Juliet...
Want to tell you something. We dream of future, we have hopes. But the dreams might not come true, the hopes might fade because unpredictable destiny is. So to be happy with a person we need to love in them what can’t change, Something that is rooted in them, Something that you know you will like in the worst of times, Something that you know you would trade with every other quality. It is this ‘Something’ which can keep two people together, that makes one believe that as happy as others are but he chose what he wanted And that something is what we still want and need.
Want to tell you that life with me might be boring, that I may not be able to do for you all I say, that you might sometimes feel that others might have kept you happier. But the thing I like in you is - your nature, your values which your parents have given you, which I know time can’t change.

I will be happy for it all my life for that is all I wanted.

Now its upto you to think whether there is something in me which you would trade even for a life full of happiness. If you do find something, then good. Otherwise I might not be the right person for you.

It is all about that 'Something' because one day you have to hold that hand and you have to know that it is the one you always wanted to.”

Juliet replied...

“Before I answer, I want you to tell me what you think my reason of being with you”.

Romeo : “Because I love you so much”

Juliet :“I love the love in you for me and that is that ‘Something’ which would never change...”

About Juliet

One day, all of a sudden, unexpected thoughts flew through my body. The rain might have brought them, or the cold wind or a novel. I don’t know. They came from only God knows where. But I understood a deeper meaning of something which I want to share with you...

Love is like an ever flowing river with abundant water. It neither decreases nor increases. It is us who can feel the flow of energy only when we dip our hands into the river. Just like how I felt the current of water only after taking the risk of sitting by the water body and wetting my feet with my friends at the cost of getting scolded by the guard of the temple.

Once we are in love, we are always in love. In the bond of two souls, which people call ‘relationship’, problems start occurring, because we start expecting. Not from ourselves, but from each other.  Though love, still exists, with the same magnitude, with the same intensity. Only that, we shut the doors of our heart sometimes, which stops the inflow of the energy. And because of its lack, our soul becomes weak and impatient just like a plant would decay without regular supply of water and sunlight.

The bond of love is the most magical and mysterious one. Until now, I used to think that love binds two people. But only from a recent novel I read, could I learn that love rather makes our soul freer. The bond though always connects the two people but doesn’t pull them forcefully together. It can be extended to infinite length without getting broken.  In love, we come to realise how much we can give, not how much we deserve. We can vicariously feel every emotion, pain and pleasure. It’s only that feeling, not the person we love, or the things that surround us. It is our own personal domain which extends us to all infinite boundaries because there is no give-and-take game which doesn’t let us understand anything divine.

While coming in bus with a friend, I told her what I realised today. How insignificant, I feel marriage is - the social taboo imposed by people (with restricted thoughts and frightened souls) to bind two people together even if their hearts are a million miles apart. If after removing all social barriers, someone is asked to reveal my future plans, the idea should be to have a life with the beloved free of any relationship, go as far as one can go in the sea of love, have children, and fulfil all dreams of a better life.

At the same time, if love doesn’t need two people to be dependent on each other, there should be no worry of leaving away the home and parents after marriage. One should just be happy to have them in his life. But more than insignificant things, I was concerned about what is significant.

Love, coming back to the subject, is about freedom, not possessiveness. Love is about happiness, not anxiety. If a person is begging for the other person’s love, he simply doesn’t know its meaning. And nothing more can be more insult to love than this which is otherwise meant to make us stronger through pain and suffering. Only those people beg in love, who are afraid to suffer without having to need understand anything.

I don’t know, how much I have been able to understand about love, but I can understand that silence deserves a special respect which is undone at the moment, words are spoken.

But the journey of learning and sharing has not been easy. Only after having undergone a long predicament of pain, struggles for my crazy ambitions and gulping down piles of random novels, and long inactive hours of contemplation, I have been able to put forth this post.

Love may happen between a man and a woman, between two women or between two men, any no. of times, with any no. of people.  In coming days, or maybe tomorrow, one may forget about the ideal things,  get impatient out of consistent indifference, or lack of attention, but instead of giving in, one should try to enjoy the pain of anxiety, of longing for someone, of disappointment.  Only then, we can achieve the highest form of love, which exists just a step ahead of pain. Instead of dissipating all the accumulated energy of pain by telling people around, feed your burning soul and see if pain is converted to pleasure.

Today, though I was still alone and single, I felt love feeding my soul instead of my body. I was feeling pure, and looked at every ‘body‘ as an invisible soul embodied in thick mass of skin of varying colours and appearances. We are not looking for a partner, but for our second half, not the other person, but the other us.  And only if we can find ourselves in another person, or we can treat that other person as ourselves, we are in love.

I felt it when the doors of my heart opened to receive the energy of love, which may occur in any form. like the invisible wind, the cold drops of rain, an unexpected smile, or friends and family, anything, anyone.
And just when I said  this to myself , a water drop fell on my hand and it started raining.

- Juliet About Juliet

Sunday, 22 November 2015

On 2nd March 2013, I met a girl online on a website meant to chat with strangers. I thought she was just another girl. But she seemed nice. She was a medical student and told about her experience dealing with patients. During the conversation she told a lot about herself and I too confided a lot of personal info to her.

During that time I never asked strangers for contact details on that website. Till the end I never thought we would land up becoming friends. She seemed nice and I asked her if we could keep in touch beyond the site and she agreed. She shared her Skype id and I added her. That night she sent 3 of her pics.It didn’t impress me though.

The following day we chatted a lot. She probably liked that I was not a pervert like other guys. She asked me what I do I do, I jokingly said I was a masseur. She really believed. I kept joking with her and she innocently believed. But what I liked the most was she respected me even though I said I was an ordinary masseur. But end of the day I told her I wasn't a masseur at all. She got really upset that I lied to her. I felt bad for making such a joke, I never lied to her again.

From that day, I was honest to her.

On the third day, she said she likes me. I was quite surprised. We chatted every single day from March 2nd to Aug 8 without a break. No matter which country I was in, no matter which exam she had, we texted atleast for few minutes. She made me feel really special.

I travelled to different cities, Netherlands and Italy but I always messaged her before the clock turn 12. Over time she sent about 150 pics of herself and her family.

By August I really felt she loved me because she valued me so much. I kept telling her things won’t work out; she should not sacrifice by moving to Germany. Besides, her medical degree is not valid in Germany. All she said was "we are in god's hands. Don’t worry".

After a month I shared my pics too. I shared about 5 pics I guess. But she kept on sending her pics. I got to know who her parents, aunts, friends and everybody are. There were times when her friends were invited home for dinner and she kept messaging me instead of talking to them. She had final exams in August and I prayed for her a lot. I felt tensed for her exams. She graduated and she invited her friends on her graduation day...

That's when I felt like going to meet her. I asked if she would invite me, she said no, she would be tensed to introduce me to her parents. She lived close to Venice. I planned to meet her in Venice to see how she is. I told my mother and sis about her. The moment she knew I was seriously ready to meet her in Venice, she started acting differently. She confessed that she chatted with me just to pass time. She said that it was a diversion for her mind. And she flirted just for fun because every boy and girl in Italy behaves THAT WAY!!!

It was a shock of my life!!!

I had the whole chat history from day one (it’s few hundreds of pages), I showed her that and asked if all that was lie.

She said yes!

I had never spoken to her nor met her but she made me feel special and I wanted to go meet her and get to know her. I couldn’t believe what she did so I made fake Skype ids to test her -

3 as girls
3 as boys
She didn't accept any of the 3 girls. But accepted all 3 guys!!!

I think she was probably bored. To one guy she said she was ‘happily’ single, second guy – ‘sadly’ single, to third guy she said she was in a ‘complicated relationship’.

On my real profile, she had told me she had an ex- boyfriend - a medical student.

But to one of my fake profiles, she said she had another ex who had a daughter and was a lawyer (I knew she hated ‘lawyers’ but she never told me why). She told truth in parts to all the guys.

I used all the info like a puzzle and got to know her.

Months later she blocked all the fake guys and still has contact with me!!! She has also joined her 1st ex again. (I have his pic too).

She celebrated her birthday on 16th Nov. I wished her and she said her dad was in the hospital. And I prayed for him. She loves her family a lot. Don’t know why I still have a soft corner for her. She is guilty too and regularly messages me. I forgave her completely, and now she is my good friend. I know her since 2.5 yrs now. …

I have over 150 pics of her. I sometimes feel like deleting them. She hurt me a lot. I never thought girls like that exist but I am curious to know how her life progresses. So I can’t remove her…ever!!!
