A walk to remember

About Juliet

The day was beautiful. Partly because of the weather and partly because of my mood. I washed clothes, and just after I hung them in the balcony, the weather changed, and with time, it went rainy. Crisp air started blowing, and the sky was overcast with black dense clouds. Coincidentally, I had an appointment the same day.

I wished if I had asked him to meet. But I didn’t want to spoil his work considering his busy schedule. He would refuse afterall by giving a ‘genuine reason’.

I hung on the railing tight while climbing up the stairs on the way to the metro platform, so as not to be blown over by the wind…! And the moment I reached there, I felt the thrashing cold wind hitting my face. I was feeling so fresh with its natural essence when suddenly my phone rang with a message:

He: wat r u doin?
Me: Boardin metro.
He: Oh yes u once mentiond. I cud cum.
Me: It’s ok.
He: u didn’t remind me that u r goin 2day.
Me: I’ll go alone
He:  Fine.
Me: m afraid of askin u 4 anythin bcoz u hv no free time.
He: It’s rainin.
Me: Hmm. I felt da cold wind on my face
He: Love you
Me: Hmm
He: I wud reach the place within 15 minutes, and ll b waitin for you there.

Astonished I was. It was nothing less than a beautiful surprise. I was missing him a lot. We decided to come back together, and enjoy the wonderful weather.

It was raining mildly when he arrived after facing some difficulty in finding the place.

By the time we came out in the evening, it was still drizzling. We took a small walk in the nearby green vicinity after which we started heading towards my place where he would drop me.  The AC in the car was making it all the more cold causing the hairs on my body to prickle. The headlights of the traffic were making the tiny water droplets sticking to the window glass sparkle. The roads were shining with water reflecting traffic lights though it was not completely dark outside. He asked me if I can steal some more time before going home. At my assent, we stopped at some place on the way to have a walk in the crisp nightly wind.

As we got out of the car, I found it was even more cold outside, but still I was liking it specially when he put his shoulder around me at once. I felt protected and chided myself inwardly for thinking that he has no time for me.  He took out a chocolate which we enjoyed until the walk. He sang few songs, but the rest of the time, we walked silently, enjoying each other’s presence.

That day, I realised that sometimes a silent walk with the beloved in the pleasant weather can give you all the peace in the world.
